The Practice

About Sub-Zero Service San Marco

A small, independent practice that does one thing — keep Sub-Zero refrigeration running in the historic kitchens of San Marco and the riverfront.

Sub-Zero Service San Marco is an independent appliance repair practice covering San Marco, San Jose, and Epping Forest in Jacksonville, Florida 32207. We are not factory certified and do not pretend to be; warranty units belong with the manufacturer, and everything older belongs with a shop that knows it well.

For Sub-Zero repair across San Marco and the river streets, ring the workshop at (904) 893-3248 or book online.

What Independent Means

Plainly Independent, and Better For It

We are an independent appliance service practice — not affiliated with, nor certified by, Sub-Zero® Group, Inc. We state that first because it shapes everything that follows. Independence means we have no quota to fill and no incentive to upsell a replacement when a repair will serve. It also means we are honest about our edges: a unit under the factory warranty should go to Factory Certified Service while that warranty runs, and we will point you there without a sales pitch.

What we do well is the long middle of a Sub-Zero's life and its end. The 700 Series integrated units built from 1994 to 2015, the Classic BI generation of 2008 through 2022, the legacy 500 and 600 Series sealed systems, and the 400 Series wine cabinets — out of warranty, out of production, but far from out of service. When the cabinetry around a unit was built in the 1920s and cannot be reproduced, repair is rarely the sentimental choice; it is the economic one.

How We Work

Diagnosis First, Figures After

Every visit begins with a measured diagnosis, not a guess and not a script. We read the control board's log, compare the actual cabinet temperatures against the 38°F and 0°F set points, and only then name a part. On the high-ticket work — a compressor, an evaporator, a sealed-system leak — nothing is quoted until the fault is proven, because a partial frost pattern on the coil tells a story a price sheet cannot.

The neighborhood sets the rest of the method. Many of these houses keep more than one unit, so when we are inside for one we glance over the rest while the tools are out. The river streets carry the legacy of the 2017 flood, and the whole metro carries Jacksonville's lightning — both of which we account for whenever a board is involved, as our journal entry on storms and surges explains at length. And every part we fit is sourced as a genuine OEM component or a properly rebuilt exchange, with the independence disclaimer that closes every page made plain before any work begins.

Where We Stand

A Few Honest Limits

  • Warranty units sent to Factory Certified Service, not booked here
  • Sub-Zero only a single brand, serviced deeply rather than broadly
  • 32207 and 32217 a deliberately small map, driven daily
  • Weekdays, 7:30 to 5:30 the hours the workshop holds, gate clearance arranged ahead

Questions About the Practice

Are you Sub-Zero factory certified?

No, and we will never claim to be. We are an independent practice with no affiliation to Sub-Zero Group, Inc. For units still under the factory warranty — chiefly the 2022-and-newer Classic and Designer generations — the correct first call is Factory Certified Service, and we will say so. Our work is the out-of-warranty repair, the second opinion, and the long maintenance life of older units.

Why keep the service map so small?

Because a short radius is what makes the rest of the promise true. Holding to ZIP codes 32207 and 32217 lets us keep gate paperwork current, schedule weekday visits dependably, and actually know the housing stock — the 1920s wiring, the flood-line streets, the estates that run three units from one panel. A wide map dilutes all of that, and we would rather be reliable on a few blocks than thin across the county.

Do you only work on Sub-Zero?

Sub-Zero refrigeration is the whole of the practice — its sealed systems, its integrated columns, its wine storage, and its control electronics. That single focus is deliberate. The parts revisions across a 600 Series, the panel recalibration on a Designer column, the brownout-lock behavior of a BI board: these reward a shop that sees them every week rather than once a season.
